Ramakrishna
Nagar, a small hamlet, situated in the hilly terrains of the
remote corner of the north eastern part of India, district
Karimganj, Assam bordering Bangladesh, practically came into
existence with the independence of India in 1947, when a number
of migrants flocked from erstwhile East Pakistan,( now
Bangladesh) and took shelter in this remote, inaccessible area
of dense forests and un inhabited land. The task of settlement
in an alien land was an uphill one and the migrants had to toil
strenuously for their livelihood. As a result economic growth
and development of this area was a slow and gradual and hence
the rate of progression remained almost stagnant down the
decades.....
